Lost. For whatever reason, my unit won't maintain power (I'm using
the power sup) less than a full minute. And of course, the thin
manual doesn't offer a Troubleshooting section. Last week I had to
drag our Roland 1880 out for something I normally only need the Tascam
on (can you say over-kill).
Help if you can!

Have you checked the PSU output voltage? Does it stay up with a fresh
set of AA batteries? Are you sure you are powering off the PSU and
not some exhausted internal batts? Have you tried powering it off
another 12VDC source? It sounds like your PSU may be having
problems. Have you called TASCAM service about this?

Philip, No I haven't had a chance to contact Tascam (this unit hasn't
seen more than 20 hours of usage). I will remove the batteries and
see what happens. When it rains, it pours...two weeks ago I was going
a mobile recording and my back-up recorder (I wire in a Sony PCM-R300
DAT) didn't want to track at the event). Luckily, I didn't need to
turn to my second unit, but it still makes the night a little more
spooky. Then I turn around and last week had the field recorder start
doing this stuff.
I probably should complain too much, as I've not gotten burned outside
the studio. Anyway, you gave me a starting point. So I shall......
Thanks,
Blas |

hello,
I had the same problem with internal rechargeable batteries in the HD-P2. i
was wondering, since i am also using external Tekkeon battery, fully
charged, why my unit was shutting down once i restart it! to my surprise, I
had to fully charge my internal batteries so that they have enough voltage.
this IS strange to me, and i think it shouldn't be this way, but for now as
long my internal batteries are fully charged, I can use external battery
power with no problem.
